MMC Racing News - March 2013
MMC’s Driving Instructor and Professional Racer Steven McAleer , with Co-‐driver Marc Miller, finished on top in Grand-‐AM’s ST class at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in the No. 5 CJ Wilson Racing Mazda MX-‐5. McAleer made a late push after getting held up on the last restart and was able to take the lead with just two minutes left in the race.
Also in the ST class in Grand-‐AM, MMC driving pro’s Corey Lewis and Justin Piscitell qualified 6th in the #40 Berg Racing Porsche Boxster. They had a strong start and Corey held the fastest ST laptime for most of the race. With a respectable 14th place finish, everyone should watch out for these two as they are a force to be reckoned with.
In rally news, MMC’s VP of Marketing, Matt Gottlieb, competed in the NASA’s Sandblast Rally in Cheraw, SC this weekend. Starting 5th on the road in his super production Subaru STI, he was hoping for a podium with the open class cars. Unfortunately, Matt was unable to finish after hydroplaning through a mud hole and damaging the front end of the Subaru. The team worked hard to fix the damage and get him back in the rally but they were unable to restart in time for the next stage. Luckily, the MMC sticker on the roof remained undamaged.
Watch for Steven McAleer at Barber Motorsports Park, April 3-‐6 and Matt at Empire State Performance Rally, April 20-‐21 in Rock Hill, NY.
