Sam Schultz – Track Director
Sam has been with the track since it first went hot in June of 2008. During MMC’s opening season, Sam served in the role of Lead Instructor for the club and MMC’s Chief Instructor the following year. Now in his second year as Track Director, he manages the day-to-day operations of the racing surface including all Corner Marshall and Emergency Response personnel.
Coming from a diverse track background, Sam continues to compete in the upper levels of motorsport. Starting in Club Racing with the SCCA led to professional racing in 2004 where in 2005 he was awarded the Glen Region’s top honor of National Driver of the Year. Building on that success, Sam has competed in the IMSA Panoz Pro Series, GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series, and currently competes in the GRAND-AM Continental Sports Car Challenge Series.
With nearly 12 years of racing experience, Sam also worked through the ranks of various HPDE programs, and began instructing drivers in the BMW CCA, PCA, in addition to his family-owned business, Trackmasters Inc. In addition to his duties as MMC Track Director, Sam continues to develop driving programs at the club, and is always helping members go faster!
Jason Holehouse – Chief Instructor
Jason recently joined MMC as our Chief Instructor in May, 2010. He will be overseeing all member instruction, from beginners with no track experience whatsoever to members who want to experience wheel-to-wheel racing, from our own MMC Race Series to professional sanctioned racing. For the past 20 years, he has served as the Chief Instructor, Eastern Region for Skip Barber Racing School. Jason, a British-Canadian, was starring in karts at age 9 and as a teen won the Canadian Senior National Championship, among a host of other karting titles. He moved up to the exciting 250cc superkarts before heading to Formula Fords, then Formula Atlantic. By the late 1980s, Jason was racing in the professional Atlantic Series in the U.S. and consistently finished races in the top 10 despite limited campaigns. Jason continues his professional racing career in NASCAR (K&N).
Carl Houman – Safety/Emergency Services Coordinator
Carl Houman is the Safety/Emergency Services Coordinator for MMC, Carl Houman is responsible for all on-site emergency response teams and vehicles. He is a 27-year fire service veteran and an emergency medical technician. Carl is the deputy chief and director of fire safety for the Monticello Fire Department and is a New York State- and nationally-certified fire inspector. He teaches hands-on training across the country for the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs, the Fire Department Instructors Conference and Firehouse Expo. Carl is also an advocate for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation for the State of New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering form Kennedy-Western University.
